What is Breathwork?

Breathwork is the use of breath awareness and conscious breathing for healing and growth, personal awakening, and transformation in spirit, mind and body. OKAAAAY….sooooo, what the heck does that mean. Well, Breathwork has been around in many different forms for thousands of years. It is often overlooked, but is a huge pillar for our health and well-being. Let me start with the type of Breathwork that I teach. It is called Conscious Connected Circular Breathing. It is a deep breathing technique that puts you in an altered, open state. Some of the benefits that I have found in my Breathwork practice include reducing stress, inflammation, anxiety and depression, and increasing feelings of clarity, alertness, increased mind-body connection and even emotional purging.

The class takes about 1 hour to an hour 15. It is about 30 minutes of continuous breathing to a playlist of songs (2 breaths in one breath out) and then you are guided through a 15 minute visualization and 15 minute relaxation so you can truly connect to your authentic you. This Breathwork turns off that little voice in your head, the little critic, and helps you take action, without fear, to live the life you are meant to live. It allows you to consciously access your nervous system by stimulating the Vagus Nerve, so you can control it. We turn on the stress response so that we can consciously turn it off, allowing us to spend the rest of the day and night relaxing and restoring.
